Afrochella Co-founder, Ken Agyapong Jnr. Reveals Why They Changed The Name To Afro Future – Watch Video

The organizers of Ghana’s annual Afrochella Music Festival announced quite recently that the 2022 edition would be the last.

Following the announcement, many people were of the opinion that the festival was not returning in 2023, but the organizers came out to disclose that it would return by from hence, it would be called Afro Future.

Many people began to speculate that the name change was probably influenced by the recent lawsuit that was brought against them by Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival and its organizer, Goldenvoice.

Contrary to this perception, Kennedy Agyapong Jnr., who happens to be one of the founders of the music festival revealed in an interview on Hitz FM that the name change has nothing to do with the lawsuit.

According to him, they actually won the cases that were brought against them.

“I can’t speak much about it but we’re good. We won the cases,” he said.

Ken Agyapong Jnr went further to explain that the name change was to mark a rebirth because after five years of doing the event, they felt that it was time for a change, and also, they believe the new name will help the world understand that Africa is the future of the world.

“This is a rebirth, starting something new. The future is Africa and we want people to come to Africa, so that is why we wanted to do AfroFuture. The future is bright and we want more people to come to the continent,” he stated.
