Hearts of Oak survived a scare on Saturday afternoon to see off Tamale City FC with a 3-2 victory in the Ghana Premier League.
In a week 11 encounter of the 2022/23 league campaign, the Phobians took the lead in the 35th minute when the side was awarded a penalty kick.
Midfielder and captain Salifu Ibrahim stepped up to take the kick and converted it to give Hearts of Oak the lead.
However, before halftime, Tamale City FC shocked Hearts of Oak when the team scored twice to turn things around.
Goals from Isaac Mensah and Sampson Eduku handed the visitors a two-goal lead to take into the break.
After recess, Hearts of Oak needed to step up and the team did just that. First, Benjamin Yorke equalised in the 46th minute to restore parity to the game before a late strike from versatile defender Caleb Amankwah sealed a 3-2 win for the Ghanaian giants.
The win today has seen Hearts of Oak climbing to second on the Ghana Premier League table.
