2022/23 Ghana Premier League matchday 11: Accra Lions thump Legon Cities FC 3-1

Accra Lions put up a splendid second-half performance on Saturday afternoon to defeat Legon Cities FC 3-1 in the Ghana Premier League.

The two teams today locked horns at the WAFA Park in Sogakope to battle for points on matchday 11 of the ongoing 2022/23 Ghanaian top-flight league campaign.

Despite a good display from both teams in the first half, neither side could score and went into the break on level pegging.

After recess, Accra Lions FC had the better of the visiting team and scored three goals to secure a win.

First, Evans Ampofo got his name on the scoresheet to give Accra Lions the lead in the 78th minute.

Just six minutes later, Solomon Oppong also equalized to double the lead for the home team before Abdul Majeed Maswud also scored to seal the 3-1 win.

The only consolation goal for Legon Cities FC came in added time when Samuel Armah found the back of the Accra Lions net.

The win has propelled Accra Lions to 5th on the Ghana Premier League standings.
